Evening Skincare Routine for Mature Skin
Slow down the impacts of ageing process
As we get older the collagen and elastin in
our skin gradually lose its strength and flexibility. On top of this natural
ageing process, unprotected sunlight exposure accelerates
the speed of ageing and skin damage. As
a result, fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation start to appear and deepen; dryness
and sensitivities may develop in the skin as well. Luckily, with a good skincare routine, you
can slow down the impacts of the natural ageing process and prevent the
likelihood of developing problematic skin conditions over the course of time.
Your skin needs time and a regular routine to
give it the nourishment it needs to look best. This is why a daily skincare
routine is so important! Not only do you need to care for your face and body in
the morning, but you should also do the same in the evening!
Remove your make-up and wash
your face every night
Those who don’t remove their make-up and clean
their face properly at night are more likely to have dirty looking skin. Also, they stand more chance of developing spots, dehydration and dull lifeless skin. Use
a white flannel to wipe your face and neck; you will be surprised to SEE how
dirty your skin surface can be, especially if you live in a highly populated
city or town with heavy traffic. If
where you live has a very humid climate, this can be even worse.
Even though you don’t wear make-up, you still need to clean
your face. Why? It is because dirt,
sweat, dead cells, pollution, germs, and sunscreen can cover and congest your
skin surface and cause problems.
Try
to use a good quality natural and organic cleanser (cream, oil, or soap) to clean
your face. Don’t forget to clean your neck too! Coconut oil, sweet almond oil
and jojoba oil are good options for removing oil based dirt, make-up, sunscreen
and pollution. Wipes are not a good option as they don’t really clean your
skin. I have a combination (oily and dry) skin type, and I have tried out different
facial wipes over the years, none of them does its job well.
Do you need a toner?
Yes, you do! Avoid a toner which is loaded with alcohol
and artificial perfume. Choose a quality facial tonic which is 100% plants based
with hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and floral waters as a treat for yourself.
This type of toner is especially beneficial for those who with dry and
dehydrated skin. Pure organic rose water is a good option. You can use it as
facial mists to hydrate your skin when it is needed during the day as well.
Spray the face with your toner and leave it on the face for a few minutes to
dry naturally before you move on to apply a serum or moisturizer.
Apply a serum for extra care or
treatment
Utilize a serum
to tackle any extra skincare concerns you may have. For example, anti-ageing
serum can be used to nurture skin cells, reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Looking for natural skin-care products which contain vitamin C, such as sweet orange essential
oil to treat hyper-pigmentation (dark spots) and re-vitalize collagen creation.
Moisturizer or evening cream
Follow it up with
your most loved cream to seal in toner and serum and give your skin a glowing, gorgeous
look. To guarantee that moisturizer locks in on your skin, you can add a couple
of drops of aroma essential oil to
your moisturizer or cream. The essential oils, such as lavender, geranium, neroli,
rose, palmarosa, frankincense, rosewood, patchouli, and myrrh essential are all
good choices.
Why should I apply eye cream?
The eye contour
area has thinner, more delicate skin in contrast with the rest of the face, which
makes it more prone to signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles and
dryness.
The benefits of
applying eye cream on a daily basis include:
1.
Builds elasticity of the skin
2.
Reduces the presence of wrinkles
3.
Help even out skin tone and lessens age spots
4.
Lessens dark circles
5.
Reduces puffiness
It is vital to
take time every single night to be in
touch and take care of your skin
by establishing a skincare routine. If you set this beauty activity into your
night time routine, you are on the right track to achieve radiant and beautiful
skin without fail!
I think there is some truth in the comment made by the
British beauty
expert Caroline Hirons
in her recent best-seller book Skincare:
“Don’t complain about time taken to take care of your face. It’s your
face.”
After all, you
are spending time, money and efforts in yourself for your own sake.
